God Jul fra oss
Kalvsjø, 2025
After what feels like blinking twice, the end of 2025 is already in sight. A year in which we made the biggest decision of our lives—and so far, it is still the best decision we could have made for each other, for ourselves, and for our family. We want to be able to look at each other in 70 years and say that we actually took the step to follow our dreams, instead of regretting that we didn’t dare to make that choice.
Even though starting completely over in a very different country brings a considerable amount of loneliness, it also gives us confidence that we will truly find our way in this new country.
The loneliness that exists now will really change. The language will truly become our own. The obstacles of living in a new country, like not yet being able to open a bank account, those will change very soon for us as well.
Until then, we have to enjoy the things we can do. Endless walks in the forests. Admiring the view from our apartment, every single day. Appreciating the kindness and helpfulness of the Norwegians.
Above all, the steps our little big bear has taken over the past two months. And that gives us confirmation that we truly made the right choice.
We would like to shout it from the rooftops: no matter how difficult your choices are, go for your dream and don’t settle for “good enough.” No matter how hard it may be in the beginning, the cliché really is true: it gets worse before it gets better.
We are looking forward to what the new year will bring. We’ll let ourselves be surprised, but we will also work incredibly hard to make our dreams come true. And we have a goal for 2026: a home of our own with a piece of land for a vegetable garden, some animals, and above all, space to live and for the adventures of our little big bear.
From our cozy apartment with that lovely view, we wish everyone happy holidays, and go get those dreams.
Merry Christmas from us 🤎
