War eyes (2020)
When memories are etched into the eyes.
When you hear the word veteran, you might still think of the generation of soldiers who fought in the Second World War. But when you walk through the city, you encounter more veterans than you might expect. Man, woman, young or old - today, veterans can be found across all generations. Yet the recognition they deserve for their actions is not given to them, research shows.
All the violence and crime these people have witnessed - there should be recognition for that. For some, the memories still play a daily role in their lives; others have managed to give them a place. But in all of them, you can still see the war in their eyes.
